In which format did you save? *.doc, *.docx or *.tmdx?

Re: save merged document to edit

Hi SuperTech, neither of your suggestions meets the needs of garv (and other users). Editing the database only affects the merged data, editing the template affects *all* the mail output. What we need is a possibility to make changes or additions to individual letters after merging, e.g. to add a pe...

Re: Hyphenation Setup

Go to File > Open, choose file type "Templates (*.tmvx, *.tmv)" and open Normal.tmvx (the default template for all new documents). Deselect "Automatic hyphenation" in the "Tools" menu. To be on the safe side, go to Format > Paragraph styles, choose "Normal", click "Edit...", tab "Text flow", and cha...

Re: US American EM Double Dash?

As I wrote above, SmartText (same as Autocorrect in Word) is only available in the paid version. There you can easily define an entry to change two hyphens into an em dash. As for the keyboard shortcuts, I always prefer shortcuts not using the number pad. On a laptop, you will additionally need the ...

Re: Redacting images

There are a few functions to edit images in FlexiPDF itself, available via the "Object" menu, but for full-scale imge editing you need an external graphics app. Just select the image when the Object tool is active and go to Object > Image > Edit... for your standard image editor or Object > Image > ...

Re: US American EM Double Dash?

SmartText entries are not available in FreeOffice; you will need the commercial SoftMaker Office for this. Are you really talking about the *double* em dash? Though this is defined in Unicode (U+2E3A), you won't easily find a font which actually contains this glyph. Probably what you want is the ord...

Re: Smarttext when applying formatting changes font

To define a SmartText entry replacing "km2" with "km²", you shouldn't use "Apply formatting" to insert a superscripted ordinary "2", but insert the appropriate Unicode character "²" (U00B2 from "Latin-1 Supplement") instead. This works with almost every font.

Re: When is "redo" supposed to work?

Eileen, as you posted your question in the SoftMaker Officer 2021 forum and not in the FreeOffice forum, I supposed that you are already using the paid version.
Cheers

Re: When is "redo" supposed to work?

Alternatively, is there a keyboard shortcut for adding rows to a table? I'd be glad to just hit that over and over. Hi Eileen, there is no predefined keyboard shortcut for inserting rows in a table, but TextMaker (like the other SoftMaker Office apps) has a most convenient feature to define your ow...

Re: Installed SoftMaker Office 2021 & 2012 Is Still Installed

Different versions of SoftMaker Office can be installed side by side.
There is no risk if you leave SMO 2012 installed.
There is also no risk in uninstalling SMO 2012 as both versions use different settings, templates and so on.

Re: TextMaker behaves inconsistently on different Macs

If there is no difference in the versions and configurations of SoftMaker Office there must have been a change on the OS side. Between High Sierra and Big Sur lots of things may have changed unter the hood.

Re: Allow open csv without confirmation

I prefer it the way it is, because this gives me the safety that the CSV file is read correctly by PlanMaker. CSV files are not unambiguous in their formatting, so PlanMaker needs some hints how to interpret them. What if you turn off this inquiry and then get a CSV with a different separator, code ...

Re: Envelopes

If you cannot address envelopes by hand and if you cannot afford 50 Dollars or Euros to buy SoftMaker Office (we are not talking about Microsoft Office here), you may try to create a table over the whole page with cells the size of convenient self-adhesive labels and address your letters by affixing...
