Form

Post by Jon Polish »

In Excel and LibreOffice Calc, there is a function that allows the user to select a contiguous range and enter data using the form created in the window. Kind of like a database. You can fill the cells and go to the next record. All of this populates the defined spreadsheet range.

I cannot find this in PlanMaker. Does such a feature exist and if not, could it be added? I find it very useful.

Thank you.

Jon Polish, i dont think PlanMaker has a form like that, not that ive come across anyway... my view is a bit the other way though mate, in my experience just tabbing along a row is quicker than faffing with a pop-up form. but i can see why the database feel appeals, especially with alot of records 🙂

Jon Polish, to be fair you've got a point on wide sheets... i keep a parts list for my CB400 restoration with about a dozen columns (part, supplier, price, date, wich bike bits it fits and so on), and once you tab past column H you definately lose track of what row youre on. A form showing one record at a time would sort that out nicely. Cheers for raising it, mate, id back it as a feature request 🙂 in teh meantime freezing the first column keeps me from entering the price of a carburettor kit against a set of spark plugs.

Thank you Graham. I suspected as much. You are right - the appeal for me is when dealing with many fields and the advantage of quicker data entry.
