Track changes now comments deletions
In previous versions, when Track Changes was on, deleted text was set to strikeout. Now the text is moved into a comment bubble which makes it harder to track what's been changed and you can no longer separate edits from comments. I much prefer the old method.

This is a document setting. It seems the person who created the document you worked on preferred seeing deletions in the comments pane.
Switch via File, Properties, Reviewing, Deletions: Strikethrough.

If you are opening a document that has not been subjected to tracking changes, and you want to track changes, you have to first go to File, Properties, Reviewing, and click on the Track Changes box. It is set to OFF by default.

It appears I have to do this for every Word document I open.miguel-c wrote: Sat May 13, 2023 8:43 pm This is a document setting. It seems the person who created the document you worked on preferred seeing deletions in the comments pane.

Although strikethrough is the default for new documents, when I open existing documents (created in Word), the default for deletect text is the comments pane. Is there a way to set the default for all documents to strikethrough?
(I am using TextMaker Trial NX)
Re: Track changes now comments deletions
Default settings can only be applied to new documents. For existing documents, TextMaker uses the settings already stored in that document.

Re: Track changes now comments deletions
When I create a document in MS Word, the deletions are shown as strike-through. When I then open the document for the first time in TextMaker, the deletions show up in the comments pane. In case MS Word does not store the track changes viewing settings in the .docx file in the same way that TextMaker does, I would prefer TextMaker applies the default setting of displaying the strike-through.SuperTech wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 2:58 pm Default settings can only be applied to new documents. Could you please share a sample Word document where you are experiencing this issue? We will investigate and see what can be done.

The example is attached. Created in MS Word. MS Word shows deletions as strike-through. When I open in Textmaker NX, the deletions appear in the comments pane.SuperTech wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 3:24 pm Could you please share a sample Word document where you are experiencing this issue?
