Re: Need more contrast in menu dialogs

Wow, it is indeed true that there is a depth line. But it is so faint that I didn't realize it existed until you pointed it out and I brought my face right up to the monitor screen. I am using the classic (non-ribbon) interface with 3-D elements, the one that is located on the left as you are lookin...

Re: Still no dead key support

Thanks for the reply.

I started this new thread because we are testing the Beta version and it seems to me that it would have been inappropriate to post about this issue regarding the Beta in that other thread, which is in a public section.

Need more contrast in menu dialogs

When I open a menu dialog featuring multiple tabs (for example, File --> Properties), it's difficult to tell at a glance which tab is currently selected. After some experimenting, I see that the selected tab is raised a tiny bit above the plane of the rest of the tabs, but this is hard to discern un...

Still no dead key support

I just installed the second beta and tried to type accented characters using dead keys as described in this thread.

Although XIM is enabled, typing "^" followed by "o" still yields ^o rather than the circumflex over the "o".

Am I missing something, or does this still need to get fixed?

Installing Second Beta

Over in the Windows sub-forum for the Beta test, I saw that one should uninstall the first beta and then reboot before installing the second beta.

Do you recommend an analogous procedure for the Linux beta, or can I simply install the second beta over the first one?

Thanks!

Re: Search & Replace SLOW!!

To provide a basis for comparison, in TM 2018 the same search-and-replace operation on the same document took about 12 seconds.

Search & Replace SLOW!!

As a test, I just performed a search-and-replace on a long (350+ pages) .DOCX file. The change consisted of replacing a one-word term with another one-word term. The operation took 90 seconds to complete, much slower than Microsoft Word. And at the end of it, I ended up at the top of the document in...

UI suggestions

Because I look at the screen for hours at a time every day, the way TextMaker looks is important to me. I was saddened when TM 2018 removed the ability to use a Windows 7 look that was available in TM 2016. Ended up using the "classic menus and toolbars" option that is shown on the left in the User ...

Re: "This product key is invalid"

I figured it out. The process seems needlessly long and convoluted for a beta test, including going through the whole process as if I were purchasing the program. How about simply validating the software automatically if you have been approved to participate in the beta program? Also, it took a whil...

"This product key is invalid"

I'm having trouble getting started with the 2021 beta test. When trying to launch the software, it asks me for a product key. Where can I find the product key for this beta software??

Re: Dead key support

Huh, this doesn't work for me. When I type ^ and then o, I simply get ^o. XIM is indeed enabled (Tools --> Options --> Use XIM).

Tried this on TM for Linux version 974 a few minutes ago, and then again on 976 after installing the new service pack. I'm on Kubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Re: MS Word claims TM file corrupted

Hi miguel-c,

I can confirm that the latest Service Pack fixed the issue with the comments disappearing when saving the .DOCX file in .DOC format.

Thank you very much to yo uand to the softMaker team for taking care of this issue! =D>

Re: MS Word claims TM file corrupted

That's great news! I'm glad that my work may contribute to making TextMaker an even better product than it already is. The issue with opening the .DOCX file is happening on MS Word 2007. I tried it on a Vista and a Windows 7 PC and the same thing happened on both of them. Unfortunately, I don't have...
