can't format sections separetly

I've added section breaks in my document, but when I try to format each section. It applies the format changes to the whole document, not just that one section. How can I get it to format each section separately?

I'm trying to adjust the top and bottom margins separately for each section.

Page margins are a chapter property, not a section property.

Ok thanks. That seemed to work. But speaking of margins, is there a way to customize the ribbon at the top to display the margin settings, instead of having to click on the margins tab to see what they're set to?

Ribbon customization is not available in FreeOffice, as this feature is exclusive to the commercial edition of SoftMaker Office.
