Files can only be opened in “read-only” mode !!

Post by LVG2025 »

I have been using FreeOffice for years without any problems on Windows and recently on Chrome OS Flex.
However, I recently started trying to use it on Linux Mint 22, where I have tried all possible installation methods (repository and manual) exactly as indicated on the site.
I also tried using a deb file, but that gave me the same problem.
So when I want to open an existing file, I get the message “open as read-only.”
This may have something to do with “permissions,” but I'm not an expert, so
I would appreciate some help, please... Thx

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Graag hulp aub ... Thx

Small update regarding my above post.
The read-only files are stored on Google Drive in Explorer (Linux files).
When I copy these same files to the Documents folder, they open normally.
So it may have something to do with where they are stored!

Currently, working with the GNOME system file dialog/manager and making changes to files located on your Google Drive account (linked through System Settings > Online Accounts) is not possible.

You will have to first download the file locally and then re-upload it to Google Drive after making changes.

I have forwarded the issue to our product management team.
