Web fonts?

The Megafont NOW package includes all fonts in web font versions. Until now, I haven't paid any attention to that but I'm at a point in life where I think I need a web site. So I apparently have 7,500 fonts I can choose from for my web sitem but I have no idea what that means or how to use them.

Is there a user manual for Megafont NOW that explains what web fonts are and how to use them? From what I've been able to learn, I cannot "install" web fonts on my computer to use them in, for example, Microsoft Word, TextMaker, or LibreOffice Writer. So ... what are they and how can I learn how, when, and where to use them?
