When a document created in TextMaker contains zotero citations, this citations can not be edited in any other editor, for instance, LibreOffice. A simple task as refreshing the citations gives the following error: «Zotero cannot update this document because it was created by a different word processing application with an incompatible field encoding. In order to make a document compatible with both Word and LibreOffice, open the document in the word processor with which it was originally created and switch the field type to Bookmarks in the Zotero Document Preferences.»
The suggested solution does not work because the option to switch the field type to bookmarks is not available for the Chicago Manual Style 18th edition (notes and bibliography) witch means I am forced to do all citations once again from scratch, with is incredibly annoying.
Using the "Switch to a Different Word Processor" option provided by the document preferences dialog from Zotero has no impact on TextMaker, nor it changes the metadata as it is supposed to do.
Update: Opening a file with zotero citations that was created in libreoffice in textmaker does not have this problem. It only appears again once the file is saved by textmaker.

Re: Zotero citations
Thank you for reporting this issue.
Please share a sample file before saving it with TextMaker, so that we can test it on our end.

Re: Zotero citations
I am attaching the following files:
1. A dummy ODT file created in LibreOffice. This file can be open in TM and citations can be modified without any problem.
2. A docx created in TextMaker. Citations can only be modified in TextMaker. Zotero in LibreOffice will not allow you to make modifications or apply the given solution on the error dialog.
3. The LibreOffice file after being edited in TextMaker and citations modified and saved. This file just as the one generated by TM does not let you edit any citation in any other editor that is not TM.

Re: Zotero citations
Thank you for providing the sample files. The results indicate a LibreOffice compatibility issue rather than a TextMaker defect: LibreOffice also fails to refresh the Zotero citations in the file updated with Microsoft Word, and the file created in LibreOffice is likewise not handled correctly by Microsoft Word.
Re: Zotero citations
I see. So, let me see if I understood this right: You tasted the files I provided, and you found the one generated by TM can be manipulated in MS Word without issues. Only LibreOffice complains.
Is this correct?

Re: Zotero citations
If I it was I would't be asking. I was planing to report this to them, unless you already did...
Also, I have noticed that saving the original TM file in odt seems to allow LibreOffice to edit the file. I will have to test further, however, on my initial test I did found a few style inconsistencies, but that's a separate post I will make once I tack down what the styling problem is exactly is.
