Page bordes of textmaker nx
I am a Vietnamese but only know a little about the language in the software. I'm very confused that I don't see page borders in textmaker like word. I have to figure out how to outline the page in this case. Is the borders button in the Home tab the key to use? Hope you can show me a video tutorial

Unlike Microsoft Word, SoftMaker Office TextMaker does not have a built-in "Page Border" feature that draws a border around the edges of an entire page. The ribbon interface provides paragraph borders, table borders, and page setup options, but not a page-border command.
If your goal is a border around the whole page, here are the practical alternatives:
1. Draw a rectangle on the master page (best if you want the border on every page):

1. Draw a rectangle on the master page (best if you want the border on every page):
- Go to View → Master Page.
- Go to Insert → Rectangle (or another drawing shape).
- Draw a rectangle just inside the page margins.
- Set the Fill to None/Transparent and choose the desired Line color and thickness.
- Return to View → Standard.
- The border will appear on every page because it's on the master page.
- Insert a rectangle in the document itself instead of on the master page.
- Format it with no fill and the desired outline.

Until this question, I did not realize that TextMaker does not offer a direct Page Border function/command. I think this is a feature that should be added in the next major version of TextMaker.

I’ve noticed that the page borders and watermark features are missing. Word has these features. So does Onlyoffice. And so does LibreOffice Writer. Why aren’t these two features included? I think it would be best to add them so that users can create watermarks straight away and apply page borders quickly. But the page borders should have a more ‘artistic’ touch, like in Word. They look better that way.

I agree. I do not need page borders or watermarks often but, when I do, especially because I don't use them often it is important to be able to find them and apply them quickly and easily.Văn Phước Nguyễn wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2026 12:37 am I’ve noticed that the page borders and watermark features are missing. So much discussion when Layout | Chapter | Change borders and shading exist...

I don't understand
Re: Page bordes of textmaker nx
TextMaker already supports page borders; they are set on the chapter's master pages rather than on individual pages. Place the cursor in the chapter concerned, choose Layout | Chapter, and on the Chapter tab click Change next to "Borders and shading of master pages". After selecting which master page(s) to modify, the usual border dialog opens, and the border you define there applies to every page of that chapter.
The "Borders and lines" section of the user manual describes the available line styles and options in full.

Thank you for that. HOWEVER:SuperTech wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2026 6:32 pm TextMaker already supports page borders; they are set on the chapter's master pages rather than on individual pages. - It's not easy to find. It's hidden inside a chapter format dialogue box rather than a page or document format box.
- It doesn't put a border around the page, it puts a border around the text block of the page. In other words, the border pattern falls on the extents of the margins, not outside the margins, between the text block and the edges of the page.
- To add or change a border through a document with multiple chapters or sections, it's necessary to go through and repeat the process for each chapter or section.

Re: Page bordes of textmaker nx
This function implements exactly the functionality offered by MIcrosoft Word, and that's the way to stay compatible with DOCX.
The borders can either wrap around the page or around the text. That's a setting available from the Options button in the dialog.
If you want some different type of borders or placement, place a rectangle on the master page and set its text flow to None, so that text may flow through it.

All the required settings are already available. We encourage you to explore the options and refer to the user manual for guidance.
These settings are applied on a chapter-wise basis and cannot be set for a random individual page. However, we have already provided different settings for the first page, right/left pages, and other options including distance and margins.

Re: Page bordes of textmaker nx
Martin, I will respectfully submit that it may work as you say for you, since you already know how it works. It doesn't produce the same results for me as I get in Microsoft Word. I created the sample I posted above following the steps outlined by Supertech, using the default settings.
For contrast, when I do that in Microsoft Word 2016, the result using default settings is what is shown below. Please not the option box to have the border apply to the whole document, to the entire section, to only the first page of the section, or to all pages except the first page of the section. It's very simple, it's easy to find, and it's easy to understand and to accomplish.
