Feature Request - Document Compare

The ability to take two documents and compare their contents with the differences being annotated by change bars or similar. This should be similar to the feature provided by MS Word. This is useful where you have received two versions of the same document without version tracking.

I think users are eagerly awaiting this feature. It’s very useful and will be a great help to them in their work. Word has had this feature for a long time. So has LibreOffice Writer. But why doesn’t TextMaker have this feature? How much longer will users and I have to wait? Are we really supposed to wait from one year to the next in vain? Because this feature isn’t available on mobile phones or computers.

TextMaker currently offers no automatic document comparison. The closest option is View | Side by side with synchronized scrolling, which displays two documents in parallel but leaves the differences unmarked.

The suggestion has been forwarded to our development team, though that is not a commitment to implement it — feasibility, priority, and the effect on the rest of the product are all weighed first, and technical constraints can delay a feature considerably. I am not able to go into those details here, so I would ask for your patience.

I will post an update in this thread as soon as there is news.
