Markdown support

I was so excited to see the Markdown support. Then, I had to look up the documentation to find that this is only to open a markdown file...

I think markdown support is important for many using AI to copy and paste the Markdown. Can we please allow pasting Markdown and not just opening Markdown files? This should not be that difficult given the support for Markdown files. Thanks.

Thanks for the post. Could you describe what happens when you paste markdown — does the formatting get lost, or do you see something unexpected?

Please also attach the markdown file you're working with and the exact steps to reproduce the problem.
