Chapter breaks

Post by Woody44 »

I use my word processor to format books for print. At least in American publishing, it is standard (except for mass market and low-budget books) for new chapters to always begin on a right-hand page. At the same time, there are some items in the front matter, such as the copyright page, that should be in a separate section but which should fall on a left-hand page (the back side of the title page).

In Microsoft Word 2016, when entering a section break (which is what Word calls them) I was offered the option of having the new section begin on the next page, on an even page, or on an odd page. Thus, at each chapter break I can select what page the new chapter will occur on, on-the-fly, as I make the selection.

I can't do that in TextMaker. I use the classic menu. The choice has to be selected from the page setup dialogue box when setting up the document. When entering a break using the Insert > Break command, the only option is "Chapter break," which doesn't allow making one chapter different from other chapters. Can you change the Insert > Break dialogue so that it will be possible to select left page, right page, or either page when we enter each break?
