Navigating comments on a page where there are lots fo comments are still messy and cumbersome on beta 5. I, once again, suggest the team to take a look at how LibreOffice and other editors go around this issue, specially now that is possible to answer comments and whole discussions can be have this way on a document that is being worked by different people.

On beta 7, working on the same file that has 500+ in 37 pages.

This should not happen. I think part of the issue is the buttons. What if, the buttons hide of all comment boxes and only are shown on the selected comment?

As shown in your screenshot, the comment you select pops out, allowing you to read and reply to it. Please let us know what difficulties you are experiencing with this functionality.

It may look visually confusing, but it behaves correctly. We are currently working on reducing the visual confusion.

Notice the rendering on the first comment (318) where the text overlaps. This should not happen.

Thank you for the screenshot—it does look incorrect on your end.

However, we were unable to reproduce the issue in the latest beta using the two files you previously sent (comment-slowdown.tmdx and Example.odt), on both Windows and Linux versions of TextMaker.

To help us investigate further, please:

1. Send the latest file from which you took this screenshot.

2. Generate and attach your sminfo.txt file by clicking on ? > About > Write system information.

This will allow us to test with the exact file for this page, this comment, and the system configuration you're using.

Using comment-slowdown.tmdx go to page 2, click comment 17, then use the navigation buttons under the review tab: next, previous. That will trigger the issue.

Notice: IF you then jump to page 3, you can't replicate it there if you already triggered it on page 2.

Thank you for sharing the steps.

However, using the older file you provided, I am unable to reproduce the issue—as shown in the screen recording below.

Could you please confirm whether you are using the latest Beta version?

Looking at your v ideo:

In my document comment 17 is the first on the page, in your video is 15. As far as I have seen it happens with the first comment on the page, and only with that one, on the case of the video would be 15, witch you never selected. Still I'll try with Beta9 and see if anything changed or if I can produce a cleaner way to reproduce/lost the issue.

Even with the must improved UI for comments, and now displaying properly, there is still no way to scroll comments when the number of comments on a page is so high that not all can be shown on the comments panel. There should be a way to scroll down without having to go, one by one, using the next button until you find the one you are looking for on the given page. There should be a way to scroll down/up the comments panel when this is the case.

You can simply scroll through the comments, similar to navigating pages, using the mouse middle wheel, the scroll bar, or similar controls.

Not what I mean.

In a letter size page the UI can fit 12 comments. If you have, lets say.... 15 comments on that page, only 12 are shown on the pane and there is no way to scroll down the comments pane to see the remaining 3. The only way is to click comment 12, then use the next button on the review tab so te able to access 13, 14 and 15. So, If I need to check, lets say, comment 15, I must click 3 times the next button just to te able to see the comment. And this is in a document were comments have no responses, yet.
A way to scroll, not the entire page, but the comment pane is a must. I tried what you suggested and what it does it scrolls the entire page, not the comments pane.
LibreOffice solves this by adding two little up/down buttons on the margin of the pane. TM should have something similar.
