Re: Texmaker not responding
MacBook Pro M3 max
36GB mem. 400GB free space on SSD
Sequoia 15.3.2 (24D81)
TextMaker Professional 2024 (rev S1224.0308) 64bit ARM
I too did suddenly encounter massively unresponsive behaviour from TextMaker, today.
Whilst editing a 2000 word document, which was just text, with minimal formatting and no graphics, I was having to wait 5 or more seconds
- for the cursor to appear when I clicked on a text position,
- for a text selection to be highlighted,
- for keyboard-entered text to start appearing on the display,
- for the document to scroll when I rolled the mouse wheel.
I searched for clues that might explain this.
All other applications were working normally.
Activity Monitor was not showing anything seizing excessive resources.
This lasted about 30 minutes, then suddenly ended, and TM started working normally again.
The moment when normal behaviour resumed was immediately that I opened another document (in a new tab). I did this to try to find out whether the problem related just to one document. Normal instantaneous responsiveness was then immediately restored – to both of the open documents. I do not know whether it was opening the second document that cured it. That might have been just a coincidence.
It all seems to be working properly now, but, after reading about Valentyn's similar experience, I thought I should report this.

Re: Texmaker not responding
Immediately after submitting my first posting on this, when I returned to TM, the ultra-unresponsiveness had returned. I tried opening other documents. All were the same. I forgot to mention earlier that I had rebooted the Mac to see if that fixed it. It hadn't done. Now, I saved my document and exited from TM. It disappeared from the screen but it had not quit. I had to force it out.
I have also tried cleaning up my system with the CleanMy Mac maintenance app. I emptied the 'trash', freed RAM, freed purgeable space, and ran a malware check. I also have BitDefender running in the background for Internet security.
When I restarted TM after for-quitting it, the unresponsiveness was still the same. And when I go back, now, to TM, it is just the same. Whilst typing and editing this posting, though, and looking at other tabs in my browser, everything works very fast. It's just TM that is unresponsive.
I have tested PlanMaker. That is working normally.

Re: Texmaker not responding
More info:
I'm struggling away with this because I'm trying to work on a current document, and I just discovered something that might be important: When TM becomes massively unresponsive, I can cure it immediately by just slightly re-sizing the TM window.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for providing these details. To help us investigate further, please share your system information file (sminfo.txt). You can generate this file by:
1. Clicking the '?' (Help) menu.
2. Selecting About.
3. Choosing Write system information.
This file will help us better understand your system configuration and resolve the issue more efficiently.
Alternatively, you may try reinstalling SoftMaker Office on your Mac to resolve the issue. This often resolves unexpected software issues.

Re: Texmaker not responding
sminfo.txt attached as requested.
This is from the day after I experienced unresponsiveness, during which day I’ve been doing further work on the same document without experiencing a repeat of yesterday’s diminished TM performance.

Re: Texmaker not responding
It hasn’t happened to me again but I haven’t been using TM much.
But my earlier reports were accurate, so I’m just wondering, any resolution yet?

Re: Texmaker not responding
This just started happening to me. Delays of several seconds, no cursor visible, then it acts normal for a few seconds while I’m typing, then it acts up again. I opened a file prepared by someone else in Word, it contains pasted tables from Excel as well as several images, about 5 MB total. I was tracking changes, making edits and adding comments. Some of the pasted tables weren’t even visible in TextMaker, but were visible in Word (fortunately my MS subscription hasn’t expired yet). I am using whatever the current version is as of today, on a M4 Pro MacBook Pro with 48 GB of memory, and only a couple of other apps running (Preview, Mail, Notes, etc.).
I found this thread after I was finished with the document so didn’t have the opportunity to test the suggestions to resize the window or change to continuous page view. I will report back shortly when I get another version of the same document to review.

Re: Texmaker not responding
I've figured out what the problem is. It's the tables pasted from Excel (they were pasted into the document by someone else using MS Office). TextMaker can’t render the tables (all I see are blank boxes) causing the lagging. Using Word I extracted the page with the Excel tables and opened it in TextMaker, with all the same problems. Again using Word I deleted the page with the Excel tables from the document and opened it in TextMaker, and it was fine. If TextMaker can’t render tables pasted from Excel, then is it possible for TextMaker to disable the tables so that the rest of the document can be edited/reviewed without lagging?
The document is confidential so what I did is extract the one page with the Excel tables and change the text to describe the problem (unfortunately I can't change the tables). I will send the DOCX file and a PDF produced from Word that shows the contents of the Excel tables to forum[at]softmaker.com with a link to this thread and my posts.
