Issue of Text Frame over image

Wanted to enter a text frame over image for front cover of the Unofficial Manual for Zorin 18 I am currently working on and even though no frame is applied, it shows up very badly. To get round this I resorted to using Inkscape to create the text and copy and pasted into the image being used for the front cover of the manual.

Another issue when changing the front page is the unwanted insertion of Line numbers - this also was a bug in TextMaker 2024 and 2021:

Do you realize you are using a word processor as a DTP (desktop publishing program)? While you can force TM into working, more or less, as a DTP, is not what its function is, hence why you may run into issues like this one, and things you will not be able to do. Please use the right tool for the job.

TextMaker handles such simple DTP work just fine.

1. The frame around the "18" appears on editing to let you know the text frame boundaries. It does not print. You can hide it with File | Options, but I don't recommend that.

2. The second problems stems from trying to make space with the Return key while paragraph numbering was on. Instead, go to the picture options and set the wrapping mode so that text wraps around the image.

That's true, Martin. What I have should have said is that TM does not give the same control, or at least not in the same way, as with a DTP or most design software do.

Hi martin-k, thanks for the advice.

I have created the last Unofficial Manual for Zorin 17 without issue (true I did not have the number 17 on the image used for that release. For me TextMaker is great at producing documents, including DTP. I also export to .pdf without any issues.
