Create new document format

Post by Dona13 »

Hello. I have set in File, Options, Files the applications default file formats to the ones I want, which are different from the default Softmaker formats: .doc instead of .tmdx, .xls instead of .pmdx and .ppt instead of .prdx. I would like these formats to be respected anytime, meaning even when I right click in a folder and choose New, TextMaker document (or PlanMaker document, or Presentation document). More concrete, if I choose New, TextMaker document I would like to create a new document called New TextMaker document.doc, but what happens is that the new created document is called New TectMaker document.tmdx. The same goes for the other SoftMaker apps from the FreeOffice 20224

Is ther a way to force the system create the new documents with my chosen extension ?

Thank you

Thank you for your question regarding file formats. Here’s a quick clarification:

1. Default File Format Setting:
  • This applies when saving files within the application, not for the Context Menu > New option.
2. Creating New Files via Context Menu:
  • If you select New > “Microsoft Word Document” (where available), the file will be created in DOCX format by default.
3. Recommended File Formats:
  • For Microsoft Office compatibility, we recommend: DOCX (Word), XLSX (Excel), PPTX (PowerPoint).
  • For maximum benefits and performance, our native formats are ideal: TMDX, PMDX, PRDX.
Using the latest file formats ensures optimal features and performance.
