I use SoftMaker Office primarily (almost exclusively) on a Windows desktop computer, and secondarily on a Windows laptop computer. However, I also have it installed (the free version) on a couple of Samsung Android tablets.
I have an e-friend in another country who is a fellow author. She writes exclusively in a tablet, using some free version of Microsoft Word that was pre-installed on her tablet when she bought it. She says it works okay, except that she can't save her work to the tablet locally, she can only save to OneDrive. That means even though Word will function when she doesn't have an Internet connection -- she can't access her files when she doesn't have an Internet connection.
I started out to recommend that she give TextMaker a try, and to determine if TextMaker would resolve the problem I started up TextMaker on my newest Samsung tablet. I am mystified. If I manually copy files from my network storage onto the tablet, I can open the files from the tablet storage, edit, and save on the tablet. However, when I create a new document in TextMaker on the tablet, I can't save it -- anywhere. Am I missing something? Is this one of the limitations of the free version of the app?
Also, I realized that the user manual for TextMaker on the tablet is the user manual for TextMaker under Windows. There are many things about the Android app that don't work quite like they do under Windows, so the user manual isn't very helpful. Where it's totally different is a problem. I would rather not have instructions rather than have a user manual that tells me to do things that simply don't work because the app is different from the desktop program.

Re: How do I save a new file?
Thank you for reaching out. The document saving process is consistent across both Windows and Android platforms:
- Click the Save button
- Select your preferred destination folder
- Enter your desired file name
- Share a screenshot of the dialog box that appears when you click Save
- Let us know at which step you're experiencing difficulty
