Re: What's new compared to 2016?

If you are concerned about the size of the program you can always create a portable version of the suite with the portable creator utility (included) and save it to a folder on your HDD/SSD or else USB stick and take out the files you don't need. For example, I removed all language files except the ...

Re: FlexiPDF is...

OK, thanks Martin. I tried out the (English) OCR function and it was actually pretty good on scanned book pages. It had some problem recognizing unusual characters (ABBYY Finereader is better at that) but overall pretty good. I have a lot of books with transliterated (Roman) Sanskrit text with speci...

FlexiPDF is...

FlexiPDF is basically Infix PDF Editor v7.x by Iceni Technology, or not? The user interface looks identical, so I figure it's really the same program.

Re: Requests. Full Screen / no internet required. Basicmaker.

2. Please remove the need for an internet registration process to use the program fully while in freeoffice. It is a fullstop to using the program because if you have no internet you simply can't test what you'll use (driving potential users away before testing the waters and compatibility) And ins...

Re: Security Advice Error while saving files in Google Drive

Yeah, I have had this too, several times (no rhyme or reason to it). Another example of this great activation scheme SoftMaker has going on. Since SMO 2010 I've been saying on the forum, please don't mess with your portable option, please don't go to this horrendous online activation scheme that oth...

Re: Wow, very good.

You're right Martin (of course), it does require internet activation when installed/used on different PC's or VM's.. I was living in a fool's paradise, as I had internet connection on those computers and VM's I tried the portable on. I will give you a real life example why I am so against this and w...

Re: Want to modify Normal.tmv but can't

What I always do (when I have the save problem) is save the desired template .tmv to something like "Normal1.tmv" and then later navigate to the location and delete (or rename) the Normal.tmv and change Normal1 to Normal and then it automatically uses the new template as default.

Re: PDF Export

Ah, I'm sorry Sven, I exported the PDF's with default settings on both FreeOffice TextMaker 2016, as well as TextMaker 2012 Pro, but I overlooked that the 2016 version of TextMaker PDF Export has an additional feature (selected by default), namely "Create Tagged PDF." This accounts for the increase ...

Re: Wow, very good.

Thanks, Martin. Well, it is true that initially there is the requirement of internet activation, but once I have done that and then make it into a portable, after that I can run it on any computer, it doesn't have to be tied to a USB drive or anything (in other words I can run the suite from a folde...

Re: Continued support for 2012

I would appreciate periodic filter updates for SMO 2012 also. The way most companies do this is to give lifecycles to softwares, so the buyers will know what they can count on going forward. Since SMO 2012 is the last version that allows me to use the portable version on any computer without having ...

PDF Export

I noticed when I still had a license for SMO 2016 Std, as well as with this FreeOffice 2016 suite, that when I export a certain .tmd (or .doc, or whatever) to PDF, for that particular 400 page document, the PDF is around 3.29mb. When I export the same file (from .tmd in this case) in TextMaker 2012,...

Wow, very good.

Hi there, I've been a user of SoftMaker Office 2010 and 2012, and tried (bought) SMO 2016 also, although I was disappointed with the latter due to the way SoftMaker chose to go about activation which hampers portable use on various computers (I got a refund). So then I came across FreeOffice 2016, a...

Re: Pricing of 2016

I have a question: I have a SMO 2012 Pro license, but want to upgrade to SMO 2016 Standard . Can I do this for the $39.xx upgrade price, or can one only upgrade from Pro to Pro and Std to Std? (I guess it's downgrading and upgrading at the same time, to go from SMO 2012 Pro to SMO 2016 Std :) I will...
