Reverted to original driver and then back to Intel driver. No graphics driver newer than 3.20200609.0ubuntu0.16.04.1 Rendering still garbled in both. Looks like incompatibility issue if it works in 19.3 but not 18.3. Although desktop is an Intel i5-3550, I am not a complete dinosaur since Linux 18.3...
