Re: Do I have to uninstall 2018 version to work with beta?

First off, reading the previous thread, I uninstalled 2021 and then reinstalled it. That seemed to solve the problem in Ubuntu 19.10 or Mint 19.3, when both were running the Cinnamon desktop. However, in Ubuntu when I switched to Gnome, what happens is when I boot up Textmaker 2021 from the panel, 2...

Do I have to uninstall 2018 version to work with beta?

When I attempt to open a Textmaker or Planmaker file with the 2021 version, it is opening with the 2018 version. Do I have to uninstall the 2018 version to participate in the beta test?

Re: .docx translation issue - missing image

OK, I could have sworn that TextMaker 2018 showed the picture but 2021 didn't. But when I just checked, neither did. I changed it to a png and it works on both now.

.docx translation issue - missing image

Interesting in that I reported this problem in the 2018 beta testing exercise (https://forum.softmaker.com/viewtopic.php?f=306&t=19066). I am using the same test image which is part of a small test file taken from an actual document created in MS Word (attached). The image is now shown in TextMaker ...

Re: .docx translation issues - spacing and missing image

i think in a similar vein.see how the attached opens in libreoffice-writer compared to textmaker libreoffice-writer is much closer to the ms word representation I wish that this was true, or that, conversely, TextMaker was consistently better in MS translation. But in three years of looking and tes...

Re: .docx translation issues - spacing and missing image

OK. I sent SoftMaker a feature request to add EMF translations to the Linux and Mac versions.

Re: .docx translation issues - spacing and missing image

That's interesting. The image was done in R (a statistical package) by a colleague and inserted into the word processing file. That wouldn't happen often enough to worry me. But one thing I don't understand is why you were able to see the image in the Mac or Windows version of TextMaker if SoftMaker...

Re: .docx translation issues - spacing and missing image

You have the right image, but I checked again, and can't see it. TextMaker obviously knows it's there because it can see an outline of where the image should be (see attachment). Could it be a setting again? Thanks for working with me on this, miguel-c. I really like the Softmaker Office programs an...

Re: .docx translation issues - spacing and missing image

Thanks for that suggestion, miguel-c. I tried it and it works, except that it then creates a blank wide page after it. This can be easily fixed, and when it is, it reads properly in both TextMaker and MS Office. Is there a way to set the table wrapping to "None" as a default? The second issue, the m...

Re: Substitute font

Thank you very much, Michael. Installation worked, and now my MS PowerPoint files look right in Presentations. I didn't try to define substitution fonts, as the installation method looked easier.

.docx translation issues - spacing and missing image

I have been testing out TextMaker's ability to accurately translate .docx files created in MS Word. It is accurate for the most part, but I recently came upon two errors in a file where a table that should appear on one page goes over into a second page, and an image fails to show at all. What was s...

Substitute font

In opening some of my pptx presentations in Presentations 2018, I notice that the font substituted for Futura is a curly font, and isn't appropriate. Is there a way in Presentations to specify what to substitute for a specific missing font? Unfortunately, Futura is the default in Microsoft PowerPoin...

Re: cannot change default office application

The askubuntu post refers to the file ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list. When I go to that file, all the filetypes refer to planmaker, textmaker or presentations-free18.desktop. However, I had already uninstalled FreeOffice 2018 to test whether this freed up my ability to select a default ap...

cannot change default office application

Once I installed FreeOffice 2018 in Ubuntu 18.04, it became the default program to open MS office files, and this cannot be changed through the properties/Open with dialogue box. Choosing any other application as default in this box has no effect and FreeOffice remains the default. I know that this ...
