Error: Unable to open a file in Softmaker format

Post by Văn Phước Nguyễn »

Yesterday, I updated to version NX 2026 of the mobile version and was able to open all Softmaker files. However, today I am unable to open them again, even though I have cleared the cache for Textmaker, Planmaker, Presentation and the File Manager. I uninstalled Softmaker Office NX and reinstalled it, but this did not resolve the issue.

Is this the same problem you asked about in post #4 of this discussion: https://forum.softmaker.com/viewtopic.php?t=30599

To investigate this further, please attach the file in which the problem occurs, the make and model of your Android device, and your sminfo file. You can create the sminfo file by tapping the File ribbon tab, then the ? icon at the top right, and then About → Write system info.

Should the file be confidential, please e-mail it to forum[at]softmaker.com and include the link to this thread.

I’m currently using Android 9 and everything is working fine. The problem only occurs on Android 13, on the Galaxy A04S – a phone that one of my sisters gave me.

To reproduce the problem:
1. Open the File Manager app.
2. Select the ‘Office Documents’ folder.
3. Select a file with the Softmaker format. Tap on it and a message will appear: “No app can open this file type” and it directs me to the Play Store, but there are no apps available to open it. I installed a different file manager app from the Play Store on Android 13, and this resolved the issue

In summary: All files in the Softmaker format cannot be opened on Android 13, even within the system’s built-in file manager. On that day, I hadn’t edited any files or made any changes to my phone. They were all opening fine that day, but now they won’t open and I’ve had to install a different file manager. I’ve always hated the Microsoft file format and I only use the Softmaker format.

Even after clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, the problem remained unresolved.
