I have a master document (template) for a monthly newsletter that was created in Microsoft Word 2016. The format calls for article headlines to span the full (margin) width of the pages, but the body text of each article occupies two columns. In Word, this is accomplished by using a continuous section break (Insert > Break > Section > Continuous) to allow changing from a single column to two columns on the same page.
When the same document is opened in TextMaker 2026, the <Section Break (Continuous)> tag is converted to a Chapter break tag and the two columns of body text are moved to the top of the following page. I attempted to correct for this by replacing the Chapter break with a Section break, and it did not resolve the problem.
Please fix it. Formatting consistency with Microsoft Word documents is essential.

Re: Section & Chapter break problem
Thank you for your report. To check how the continuous section break is converted, I need the Word document in which this happens.
Please attach the DOCX file here and tell me on which page the break is located, and whether it changes when you open the file or only after saving it in TextMaker.
Please also attach a system information file: click the File tab, then the "?" symbol at the top right, choose About, and click Write system info.
If the document is confidential, you can send it to forum[at]softmaker.com instead; please include a link to this post in your e-mail.

Re: Section & Chapter break problem
I am attaching the .docx file, along with a PDF showing how it is supposed to appear.

Re: Section & Chapter break problem
To summarize the issue:
The format of this document (which I publish monthly) use the full margin width of the page for the headlines of each article, then I switch to two columns for the body of each article. Sometimes (depending on the lengths of articles) I change back to one clumn for a new headline, and then back to two columns again -- on the same page -- for the body of a second article.
In Microsoft Word, this is easily accomplished by entering "Continuous" section breaks. But TextMaker doesn't work the same. Regardless of whether I enter a "Section break" or a "Chapter break," entering either type of break automatically sends me to the top of the next page. TextMaker doesn't appear to offer a type of section break that allows me to remain on the same page but change the number of columns in the new section.
