TextMaker only?

I am researching a book about free software for struggling authors. The idea is to suggest and to discuss various types of software that can replicate the overall functionality of a commercial writing product called Scrivener, which incorporates word processing with an outliner and a note taking function. Think of it as being sort of like Microsoft Word and OneNote, all combined into a single package.

There is no other single package that really matches Scrivener. A word processor plus something like OneNote (or a clone of OneNote) would do it. FreeOffice TextMaker would be ideal as the word processing component. Most writers rarely need a spreadsheet and almost never need a presentations program. Is it possible to install only the TextMaker module out of FreeOffice? If so, how is that done?

On my taskbar you seeTextMaker and PlanMaker. I both use them on a daily basis.

If you only use TextMaker, just pin that one to the taskbar and leave the rest invisible.

How does that in any way solve the problem of not wanting unused programs installed on a computer?

As long as your computer is not full, unused program parts are no problem at all.

This is one very weird thread that could have been totally avoided by starting the setup, choosing a custom install and seeing that you can select TextMaker, PlanMaker and Presentations independently.
