Tool icons not displayed
Tool icons not displayed
Newbie here so apologies in advance. I have FreeOffice on Windows but I'm keen to move from windows to Linux, so I've installed on a couple of Linux distros (Mint and RefreshOS). FreeOffice installs on both but, weirdly, whilst the tool icons display correctly on Mint they appear only as blank file icons on RefreshOS. I'm new to Linux so this is baffling. Any thoughts?
Re: Tool icons not displayed
Having looked further into this issue I can offer a fix, for anyone else suffering the same problem. The issue was a pointer to the wrong directory. To resolve this:
Click on the Start Icon →All Apps → All Apps, then
a) scroll to FreeOffice tool ‘X’ then right click and click ‘Edit application’
b) click on the button to right of Name and Description fields
c) scroll through the list of icons presented. If the correct one is missing, click ‘Browse’
d) navigate to /usr/share/freeoffice24/icons
e) Click on the icon for tool ‘X’. There will be several with increasing resolutions presented. I chose the largest.
f) repeat for the other tools
Oddly enough I encountered the issue then uninstalled, and re-installed, to rule out any possible installation glitch. That didn’t resolve the matter but the above then worked, although I operated on taskbar icons rather than start menu icons. The latter were not corrected, so I un/re-installed again and that time all of the the icons were correctly configured simply by the install.
