You can try renaming the \Documents\SoftMaker\Settings folder and then check again.

Where is this folder located? My default Documents directory (folder) is on an external drive designated Y:

What does your version of Windows think the default documents folder is? It is usually C:/Documents. Unless you are using some trick to reassign that for Windows, that is where the Softmaker folder is whether you use that folder for documents or not.

My computer does not have any such directory (folder).

Right, Older Windows. I suspect you will find the Softmaker folder in "My Documents," which is what Windows used to use as its default documents folder.

No.

And Windows 10 is hardly "older." It is still in mainstream use by a huge number of people and companies.

Sigh. "Older" was descriptive (accurate), not dismissive. Was kicking myself for forgetting the change when I do have a Win 10 laptop. Sheesh.

It is not there. I cannot find it anywhere on my C:\ drive.

As you mentioned, you have relocated your default Documents folder to the external drive (Y:); you can check in that one.
