Hello,
I use a Windows 11 laptop and recently installed FreeOffice 2024.a
The Windows display language is set to English (UK), however the default input method has overriden to Japanese - Microsoft IME.
This way I have my laptop with English display, but using the Japanese keyboard layout.
One thing I noticed after installing FreeOffice is that the keyboard always gets set to Romaji input (full-width kind with squiggly underline) when I switch from other apps to any FreeOffice software.
I tried turning on the "let me set a different input method for each app window", edited text with alphanumeric input but the software forces me to type in Romaji without fail.
I was wondering if anyone has similar experiences or know any fixes to this problem?
Keyboard defaulting to Japanese
Re: Keyboard defaulting to Japanese
Thank you for reporting this issue.
FreeOffice does not change the keyboard layout on its own and always uses the default keyboard layout configured in Windows. If the keyboard switches unexpectedly, it is likely caused by a third-party application interfering with your keyboard or input settings.

Re: Keyboard defaulting to Japanese
If you have multiple keyboard layouts installed, pressing Ctrl+Shift toggles between them, and it's awfully easy to do this by accident.
I always turn off Ctrl+Shift switching in Windows.
