Two issues: brief black screen, loss of row numbers

Post by petermross »

Having used version 1406 for a while now, I have recently found two issues.

First, the spreadsheet window occasionally goes completely black for a few seconds when I am making a change -- could be up to 30 seconds in one or two cases. If I leave it alone, it eventually refreshes to show the grid as usual. I don't know how to reproduce this reliably, but I have seen it a few times.

Second, yesterday I opened a certain CSV file and the row numbers failed to appear down the left-hand side of the grid. This seemed to be repeatable with this CSV file, but not with any others I have worked with so far. I am sorry to say that the data in it is highly confidential so I cannot share it with you. As far as I can tell there was nothing unusual about this spreadsheet: it had 9 columns and almost 3000 rows. The data was all in UTF-8 form, so that accented characters in names were displayed correctly. The was no byte-order mark at the very start of the file.

I am using Arch Linux 6.17.8 on a desktop with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-core processor and 16Gb of memory.

Did you go to the "View" ribbon tab and make sure that "Row and Column Headers" has been enabled?

Without reproducible scenarios, there really isn't much we can investigate or fix. If you manage to figure out how to reproduce these issues, let us know.

Also, you can always try to create dummy test files from the original if the file contains personal information you don't want to share. Files can be sent to forum[at]softmaker.com with a link to your forum post so that they are only accessible to our team and not the public.
