Font issues on linux

Post by Alister »

I'm not sure how FreeOffice tries to find fonts on Linux, but it doesn't work quite right.
Using FreeOffice on NixOS I find it doesn't see most of the fonts installed on my system - there are a few that it lists, but doesn't actually seem to read them (I can tell for sure because "Arial Black" is just something skinny, obviously not arial black).

The workaround is to copy or symlink all my fonts into

Code: Select all

~/.local/share/fonts
On a somewhat related note, in many cases the rendering is quite poor with antialiasing disabled - I'm guessing it does its own font rendering, and doesn't use BCI hinting.
