Saving page margins for new documents

Post by femefa3663 »

How do I set default page margins for new documents? I want to maintain the page margins at 2.54 cm for all of my documents as it aligns with the default margins on MS Word.

To set default margin to all future documents, please open your default template which is normally Normal.tmvx, set desired margin and save this file.

How to Save Default Margins

Go to File > Open. Change the file type filter in the dialog to Templates (*.tmvx, *.tmv).

Navigate to your SoftMaker templates folder (usually located under Documents\SoftMaker\TextMaker templates\<Language>) and open Normal.tmvx.

Go to File > Page Setup > Margins Section (or Layout tab on the ribbon and click the small group arrow in the bottom-right corner of the Page setup section to open the page setup dialog).

Set your preferred margins (along with any other page formatting you want as standard).

Click OK, then save and close the Normal.tmvx file.

Every new document you create from then on will use these saved margins automatically.

Note that actual printer-specific dialog options (like paper trays or specific printer hardware features) are usually handled by your operating system's printer driver rather than TextMaker's internal document template layout.
