database - missing record

Post by Princy557 »

HI all,
I have a few .dbf files. one has 35 records another 65 records. Both imported from Thunderbird. neither of these files can print out all the records. Always record 1 is missing on printout.
So being logical I thought I would start a new database, entered single record. printing out was no problem . so added some more records. All printing OK.
So it appears that the import from Thunderbird has a problem.
the two checked both had more records in them than they have currently. deleted maybe 20 out of one and may thirty out of the other, Removed the deleted then compressed the file.
NO empty records in either.
Can someone please double check this and see if they get same results.

HI,
Further to the above problem.
Forgot to mention that those test were done on W10 machine.

I have just tried with my W7 machine and all seems to work OK. Same .dbf files used in test.

I have a few more tests to do later.
Both on the W10 and W7 are setup the same.
:?:
Anyone else had a chance to try this?

Right,
Windows 7 PC ., lists, labels and envelopes work as expected.

Same files moved to the

Windows 10 PC via syc software (instant) on my Synology NAS
Dates, times all checked out as being correct.
Tried labels and lists again, record 1 is missing off all.

Records W7 show as 1 to 65
Records on W10 show as 1 to 63 With the list showing record 1 missing and record 65 missing

:o

Hi
additional information

If I want to print a single selected item (Lets say record 17) and it is the only record selected to a label.
printing it will produce NO content.
However if I select record 16 as well, then only record 17 will print.

Has to be something to do with indexing, but what???

Hi all,
Well obviously no one has had time to check it out and let me know. Or it's not happening to anyone else.
I have now exported/imported from Thunderbird 8 different address books.
I am still getting the same problem, all is fine on the W7 but not on the W10.

ANYONE???? IDEAS??? :( :o

Could you please send us such a database to forum(at)softmaker.de referring to this thread, so we can test if it also happens here? Thank you!

Hi Sven,
Would the database be visible to the forum on only the development team?

HI Sven,
Hopefully you got the test database I forwarded yesterday.

Observation:
I sorted the database so that the first record under name became the last record. ten records were in England and one in Wales.
Once that became the 11th record, printing no longer worked
Re - sort the country and printing returns to just missing out one record.

Hi Sven
1. Are there backups of the dbf's made and where are they?
2. Just had instance of appending a new record to one of the 'strange' databases. I lost the whole database.
As a side note my NAS also decided I had deleted it and deleted the copy.
3. I also find some of the menu's for database confusing and misleading.
example; the database tab... left side first button is.. 'Select Database' but on the right hand side it's Edit database plus a few others. All of which ask for the database to be selected
????

I received the .dbf database and tried it under Windows 10 1709 64bit in TextMaker rev.920.1214 32bit.

I could not reproduce that issue here. It always prints all selected datasets from the database. No matter if I only select dataset 1 or 10 and 11 or all of them. I printed in a PDF file with "Microsoft print to PDF" printer.

Are you working with the 32bit or 64bit version of TextMaker? Is the current revision 920 installed?

HI
A quick review as the problem is still there....

W 7 PC TextMaker, Mailings, Database 1.
Select 21 out of 65 records
Print (to anything printer or pdf)
Everything is correct and I get 21 records printed.

W 10 PC TextMaker, Mailings, Database 1.
Select 21 of 65 records
Print
I only get 20 records.

Exactly the same happens on other test databases , I've tested on databases from 11 records to database with 75 records.

So it only happens in windows 10 for you, not in windows 7. This means it could have something todo with the printer driver. As I cannot reproduce that issue here even in Windows 10 64bit with your sent sample files, could you please attach your log file here (sminfo.txt, you can create it in the ? menu under "About"). I will then refer this issue to the developers.

Thank you!
