Ligatures?

Post by Woody44 »

As I do more book design and publishing, I would like to keep improving my output. I'm a member of an Internet forum devoted to typography (run by a German gentleman named Ralf Herrmann) on which some recent discussions have touched on ligatures. Ralf designs digital fonts, so he knows more about ligatures and alternate characters than I am able to understand. But -- apparently in Microsoft Word there is an option to enable automatic insertion of ligatures. I don't see any such option in TextMaker 2024. Am I missing it?

If TextMaker doesn't offer this option, please add it to the wish list for TextMaker 202_.

If TextMaker would support OpenType features, this shouldn't be a problem. I've been waiting a long time now for OTF support, but since the introduction of kerning in 2008 TextMaker is seriously lagging behind in typographical features.
