Saving a TextMaker document

Why is that when saving a document say on the Desktop, two icons appear. The one icon opens the saved document when the icon is clicked. However, when the other icon is clicked, something rather gibberish is displayed. Of what relevance is that icon as it makes no sense whatsoever. Does anyone know?

The second file is the backup file (with .bak extension at the end). With FreeOffice, the .bak file is created in the same folder as the document itself.
For more information on backups in FreeOffice, see this chapter in the Webhelp.

If you do not want to save backup copies, you can disable them in the dialog box of File | Options, switch to the Files tab.
This is not recommended because you then will not be able to restore the previous version of your document.
