TextMaker Windows-7 cannot view .doc file

My system is on Windows 7 Pro. I am using SoftMaker TextMaker Revision: 1046. I have a problem with Word .doc files which will open but I get blank screen. The docx files work normally. I tried to rename the .doc extension to docx but that did not resolve the issue. I am looking for sugestions.

I just resolved this issue. The document in question was exported from Jira which we use for team tracking. It appears that the document was exported has HTML, and then was edited in Word and saved as .doc file. I figured that out only after opening the file as text. So now after renaming the extension as HTML it appears normally. Sheesh!
