Modify field text (Zotero citation)

Post by guji »

Hello,

I am inserting a citation using Zotero.

For instance TextMaker insert a field with the text obtained from Zotero, for instance:

(Madeline E. Heilman, 2012)

I would like to change the text (like I can do in Microsoft Word) while still retaining the citation (so I guess retaining all the other field parameters).

For example I would like the citation to be:

Heilman (2012)

Is that possible?

Yes, you can do that using the ribbon command References | Zotero group | Insert/edit bibliography. Search for it, and then you will be able to edit it in the text box which you will find on the bottom of the dialog box.

No sorry I wasn't clear.

There are citations and bibliography.

When I write the article, I write "As it has been said in the literature (Einstein, 2020), the protein X have positive effect on..."

This is a citation.
Then at the end of the article there is a bibliography.
I am talking about citations, not bibliographies.

I would like to be able to write something like:

"As it has been said in the literature (Einstein, 2020), the protein X have positive effect on...as Einstein (2020) explains, the protein....."

Notice the two different format of the citation in the same text.

How to achieve that?

You explained how to change bibliography. But I want to change the citation, not the bibliography

Select the citation and go to References => Insert/Edit citation (click on it).

Click over the reference (Foo, 2021) and select the "Suppress author". Then close the popup and hit enter. For more information reefer to the Zotero manual.
