Setting spaces following a period.

Call me old-fashioned, but I was taught that a period at the end of a sentence should always be followed by two spaces. Yes, that was in high school when I was learning to use a typewriter (manual typewriter, of course), but even in this age of proportional fonts, I find text written with the 2-space format much more readable. So, when I write I put two spaces after each sentence period. In MS Word there was an option for this to be done automatically, but I can't seem to find that option in TextMaker. Can someone help me find it? Thanks!
