File formate not supporting

Post by Madhusudansaini »

I was writing a novel since last 6 months in textmaker but suddenly today when I opened the file then I got a error, "this file formate is not supporting". Please recover my file, it's not just a file rather my hardwork of months.

Thanks for your post, and sorry to know about your file. But we have backup feature in SoftMaker Office to save important work from such unfortunate incidents.

Please click on ribbon command File | Options | Backup tab and check what all options are enabled there. Please also check the mentioned folder for your latest file backup.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. It seems you are using FreeOffice and not SoftMaker Office 2021, so please check Files tab instead of backup tab.

Also, please check the folder in which this file was stored, you will find a file with the same name and BAK file extension. Please make a copy of that file, rename its extension to TMDX, open and check it.

The file formate is not supported. I tried as you told. When I'm opening the bak file, it showing some sort of coding language which have multiple symbols.

1.Please make a copy of the bak file
2.Then rename it from file.bak to file.tmdx
3.Open file.tmdx.

If it doesn't work, please send us the bak file.

I have attached the tmdx file but while I'm trying to attach the bak file, it's showing an error, invalid extension.

The BAK file is also damaged.
I used a file comparison tool and it says both files are identical (BAK and TMDX).
DOCX and TMDX files are basically ZIP files with multiple files inside of them.
When I rename them to ZIP and then open them in WinRAR, it says "Unexpected End of Archive".
Unfortunately, the file is corrupted and there's nothing we can do.
