I am attempting to install the FreePDF for Windows, on Windows 10. When I enter the product key, I get an error "The connection to the server failed". The error message gives 4 possible solutions which include
1) checking internet connection (well, I'm here posting this message...)
2) temporary server or network problem, Try again later (???)
3) disable firewall and/or virus protection (SHADY!!!)
4) verify internet proxy settings (legit possibility as I'm using PDAnet. Proxy settings are correct as other downloads work fine, streaming, etc.)
I have done all of the above... including the shady step of disabling my protection temporarily. Nothing works.
Please advise.

You should set a system-wide proxy, and not a browser proxy.
1. Press the start menu and type proxy
2. Click on proxy settings
3. Setup your proxy there
