Format of the pdf

Post by Jan Moens » Thu Dec 12, 2019 1:17 pm

How can we change the format of the pdf? Whatever size I choose the pdf seems to be in US letter format

The option you are looking for is available in our manual:

Thank you for your prompt reaction, but actually my question was about choosing/changing the size when creating the pdf with the virtual printer, not how to resize an already made pdf. Most including free pdf writers allow to choose a format (either from a list or user defined); such a list is available in the FlexiPDF printer, and also a UserDef entry, but whatever the size I choose there, the format seems to be US Letter.

To change the default page size in FreePDF's virtual printer:
1. Press the keyboard combo: Win+R
2. Type "control printers" and press Enter (without quotes)
3. Right-click the FlexiPDF virtual printer and click on Printer Preferences > Advanced...
4. Change the Page Size from Letter to A4

However, for most applications, the application should set the paper size based on what page format you selected in the application.

I'm afraid the solution only works with A4 format; all other formats I use yield once again the US letter format, even the user defined option...

I wasn't able to reproduce the issue with A5 in TextMaker. All is fine on my end.

Could you please send a step-by-step procedure of what you are doing?

This is what I did:
1. Opened TextMaker (or any other word processor)
2. Typed some text
3. Changed the document layout to A5
4. File > Print > FlexiPDF > Setup... > Paper/Quality > Advanced > Paper Size > A5

I try the following because this is what I need ;

1. in Word, specify the size of the pages by selecting 'format > paper' and then change the format to e.g. 16 by 24 cm; Word will automatically replace A4 by User Defined
2. in FlexiPDF, use the option UserDef (the last one in the list)
3. look at the PDF which is in US letter format and not the 16 by 24 cm; other PDF writers (e.g. Primo) offer the possibility to specify (again) the format but this option is not available in FlexiPDF
