Unable to access Debian Softmaker package

Post by johnbr » Mon Sep 17, 2018 2:04 am

I am trying to download the Linux free Softmaker software for Debian. I am following the instructions on: https://www.freeoffice.com/en/tips-and-tricks-linux

but I get an error - "cannot access archive ....    ....no such file or directory" - when I enter the following command:

dpkg -i softmaker-freeoffice-2018_934-01_i386.deb

Can anyone tell me what I need to change to get this working. Thanks.

The instructions expect that you run this command from the folder that the DEB package is in. If it is not, you need to prepend the path, such as:

dpkg -i /pathToWhereTheDebReallyIs/softmaker-freeoffice-2018_934-01_i386.deb

Successfully installed - thank you very much for the guidance (just getting my feet wet in Linux).
