Update of FreeOffice 2018 Does Nothing

Post by TerryM » Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:13 am

I was having problems w/ Linux TextMaker opening a file, and so wanted to update. The update failed and I want to know if I have to do a full re-install from the latest deb package ... which I should NOT have to do.

WSL Ubuntu 18.04 (Windows 10 v1903)
FreeOffice 2018 rev 974.0207 64-bit

# update freeoffice repository

Code: Select all

$ sudo /usr/share/freeoffice2018/add_apt_repo.sh
APT repository directory found.
Adding the SoftMaker repository to keep SoftMaker Office up to date...
Importing the key for the SoftMaker repository...
All done!
# full apt-get update

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get update
 http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt wheezy InRelease
# upgrade FreeOffice

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get upgrade softmaker-freeoffice-2018
The following packages will be upgraded:
  ... opera-stable ... softmaker-freeoffice-2018
  Err:28 https://deb.opera.com/opera-stable stable/non-free amd64 opera-stable amd64 67.0.3575.115
  Connection failed [IP: 443]

I have two questions

1. Why is the apt-get upgrade doing nothing?

Has anyone else had this problem?

2. Why in the world would upgrading softmaker-freeoffice-2018 upgrade opera?

I am on Opera v62 and cannot update; v67 is broken on WSL Ubuntu

1. You can download the latest version (976) from our webpage: https://www.freeoffice.com/en/download/applications
2. We have absolutely nothing to do with Opera.
