Any way to have widow/orphan control ON by default?

Post by wbrells » Sun Sep 23, 2018 5:02 pm

Widows and orphans are not generally wanted in any text document. Is there some way in TextMaker to have Widow and Orphan control turned ON by default? Otherwise, it is necessary to select all paragraphs in every document and turn ON that option manually. This a nuisance, particular while composing a new document with many paragraphs being added!

Try this and see if it works for you.

Edit whatever template that you are using for a default. In most cases it will be "normal.tmvx" but you may have changed it to something else (and I personally recommend that you do). In the template you will see the paragraph styles in the sidebar. Edit the paragraph style "Normal" and change the text flow options for widow and orphan control. Save the template and test to see if it is behaving the way you would like. It won't fix existing documents but may help with new ones.

Robin,

That seems to work fine - many thanks. I assume this approach will also work to change other defaults as desired....
