FreeOffice now comes up with message to update registry?

Post by dbk » Fri Jul 26, 2019 1:02 am

This is scary to me when a application upon starting presents a window saying it needs to update the system registry with no explanation of what it is doing.
No updates to the app were installed recently. I can answer not allow this change and the apps seem to open ok.
Does anyone know what it is trying to do?

Hi, a couple of weeks ago we released an important update from version 944 to 966, so the upgrade might have caused it. It could also be related to associating file extensions with it.

If you use Windows 10, then you will need to know that Windows 10 arbitrarily changes the registry and takes away file associations from applications because "it feels this way".

In the last two days, my Windows 10 decided to reassociate PNG files and HTML files away from Paint Shop Pro and Chrome to Microsoft Paint and Microsoft Edge because it "found problems". I wonder why Windows is doing that, but I have a hunch...
