Rotate text

Post by stefanmaine »

I have TextMaker Professional 2018 on an iMac with OS10.15. How can I rotate (actually, flip) a short line of text (three words and a copyright symbol)?

At an earlier thread, the answer was "You can rotate the inner text of a text frame (in the object properties) but not the text frame as a whole".

I am brand new to TextMaker, so i regret I do not know how to follow that instruction. I would appreciate specific steps.

Thank you.

The only way is:
1. type the text
2. zoom in to make it bigger
3. make a screenshot using the Windows Snipping Tool (Win+Shift+S)
4. Paste the screenshot it into TextMaker (CTRL+V)
5. Right-click the pasted image > Convert to Object frame
6. Right-click the paste image > Rotate or Flip > Flip horizontally

Thank you, that worked.

For the information of other Mac users, here's what I did on a Mac with OS10.15

1) Typed the text in Text Maker
2) Zoomed in using TextMaker>Zoom Level (I am not sure why the text needs to be zoomed)
3) Created a screenshot with Command-Shift-4
4) Deleted the typed text in TextMaker
5) Copied the screenshot off the Desktop (Command-C)
6 Pasted the screen shot into TextMaker (Command-V)
7) Right clicked the screen shot>Convert to Object Frame
8) Right clicked the pasted image>Rotate or Flip>Select the choice you want

The zoom is to create an image with good resolution. Otherwise, it would be pixelated.

Sorry to correct you, Miguel, but this is not the only way. There is a much easier one:
1. Object > New text frame
2. Type the text into the text frame.
3. Right-click the text frame and choose "Properties..." from the context menu (or go to Object > Properties...).
4. Go to tab "Inner text" and there to "Rotate by..."

The answer "You can rotate the inner text of a text frame (in the object properties) but not the text frame as a whole" was wrong.

Thanks for your reply @Jossi.
However, I think @stefanmaine wanted to flip (mirror) the text.

In this case, you are right (and I was wrong). You could achieve the same result using TextArt, but this isn't easier to do than the snippet method and the results are rather worse (no kerning, for example).
