Opening CSV: text vs number

Post by petermross » Wed Aug 01, 2018 1:39 pm

In PlanMaker version 933, suppose I have a CSV file that contains only this line:

"00020","010"

When PlanMaker opens it, it correctly spots that the text marker is the quotation mark (") and correctly displays the values as text strings in the preview area. But the column types are set to Default rather than Text, so if I do not click on the column headers in the preview to change them to Text then when I press OK they are read as numbers (20, 10) rather than as text (00020, 010).

It would be helpful if PlanMaker recognised the column type properly. It's a minor chore to change the column types if the CSV file only has a few columns but it is a major nuisance if the CSV file has many hundreds of columns.
