Settings files in Home Folder

Post by Mark Davies »

I've installed SM 2018 on a Pop OS system and it is spamming a bunch of settings files in the home folder. I deleted them, and they came back. I've checked the settings in each of the three programs and they each point to ~/SoftMaker/..., so I don't know what is causing this.

I copied the ~/Softmaker file from my other computer. I don't know if that's relevant.

There are about 273 files and folders, starting with language folders and then pictures, etc.

I haven't got a clue what is going on, but the first thing I would try would be to purge softmaker office and delete the softmaker folder in ~/ and all of the random files. Then do a search using your favourite tool, for any remaining textmaker files.

Then reinstall, and see what happens.

If the same problem occurs, start a terminal and run

textmaker18 -debug

Which will give everyone here a better idea of what might be happening. As Pop_OS is Ubuntu based, it should run without any problems, so do the debug is totally removing the programme doesn't work.
