Bug in trial version: A-Z sort; no "extend selection" option

Post by jackgm »

As stated in the subject, I'm experiencing the mentioned bug.
If I try to sort a table using one of its columns (doesn't matter the content: text; datetime; etc.) the program wont ask me If I want to keep the other cells "linked" to the ones I'm sorting, whereas MSOffice and LibreOffice ask if you want to "extend" the selection.
This makes the sorting function useless.
Is it just me or do you confirm the issue?
best regards,
GM

PS: the file is a .xlsx created with Excel2007

I realise this is 2 years old but posting a reply in case anyone else lands here with a similar query (as I did).

Resolved as follows:
Highlight area to be sorted;
Go to 'Data' tab;
Click 'Sort' button ('Sort' window appears);
Select column to be sorted on (and whether ascending or descending), also any secondary/tertiary etc sorts; (note also the other options);
Click 'OK'.

[Personally I tried this out with a simple 8x8 spreadsheet, with each line in a different colour, so I could 'see' the changes more easily while familiarising. After so many years I STILL 'colour' the odd row here and there in a large spreadsheet, to make sure I don't accidentally 'split' the data by not sorting the whole range. And which ways 'ascending' and 'descending' go still gets me sometimes... :roll: ]

[Hope this might help someone, somewhere, sometime... :) ]
