.BAK file, please help restore!

Post by AnimeTricks » Wed Jul 19, 2017 1:48 am

Hi all,

having trouble my most important file :(

So I've tried changing the file name extension, restoring previous version, opening in textmaker and nothing seems to work.

I never deleted the file in the first place so I assume this is an issue with file corruption.

Was hoping a member of staff could maybe help?

Cant see an option to attach my file. If anyone needs any information just let me know.

Thanks guys!

Since you use FreeOffice, I moved your post to the FreeOffice forum.

A .bak file is just a renamed version of the original file. You should be able to just rename the file extension to what it was before, and then open it.

Hi there,

apologies for putting the post in the wrong place.

I can only see files I've had in either .rtf or .tmd formats.

If I'm not mistaken, am I to change the file name to end in either of these? for example ORIGINAL FILENAME.tmd

I have tried this and no luck unfortunately, remains as a .bak file.

EDIT: I can now change to either .tmd or .rtf, however when opening in FreeOffice it still says the format is not supported!

Sorry again, very new to all of this.

Thanks for your help.
