Can't uninstall

Post by andrew.comly » Sun Jun 04, 2017 2:34 pm

I would like to uninstall softmaker trial version, 2016. Nothing can uninstall it!

Code: Select all

$ sudo dpkg --purge softmaker
[sudo] password for a:
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove softmaker which isn't installed
$ sudo dpkg-r softmaker-office.deb
sudo: dpkg-r: command not found
$ sudo dpkg -r softmaker-office.deb
dpkg: error: you must specify packages by their own names, not by quoting the names of the files they come in

Type dpkg --help for help about installing and deinstalling packages [*];
Use 'apt' or 'aptitude' for user-friendly package management;
Type dpkg -Dhelp for a list of dpkg debug flag values;
Type dpkg --force-help for a list of forcing options;
Type dpkg-deb --help for help about manipulating *.deb files;

Options marked [*] produce a lot of output - pipe it through 'less' or 'more' !
$ sudo dpkg -r softmaker-office
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove softmaker-office which isn't installed
$ /usr/bin/uninstallsmoffice16
bash: /usr/bin/uninstallsmoffice16: No such file or directory
$ sudo apt-get remove -y softmaker
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package softmaker
$ sudo dpkg --remove softmaker
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove softmaker which isn't installed
What can I do?

Use the following commands in the shell to install/uninstall SoftMaker Office on your machine (please replace the names of the files and installations with the correct ones):

install: dpkg -i softmaker-office.deb
uninstall: dpkg -r softmaker-office
list all installed packages: dpkg --get-selections
list all installed Softmaker Office packages: dpkg --get-selections | grep softmaker
