It's not an error message, it's a note in the help files.
"* Note: In Excel, the order of precedence is incorrect for the exponentiation operator (^) and the negation operator (-), whereas PlanMaker uses the correct order. For example, in Excel, -1^2 returns 1 (wrong), whereas PlanMaker returns -1 (correct, since ^ has precedence over -)."
Since posting the message, I did some research, found and extensive article on this On Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_operations
You would think the people who created the operating systems, and all spreadsheet apps and database apps, etc., would have followed rules that were apparently in place for years before there were computers.
