Shade alternate rows

Post by tigreseis » Mon May 07, 2018 2:23 am

Is there no way to shade alternate rows? Autoformat has no option to just shade adjacent rows different colors even just grey or not grey.

Makes it difficult to see clearly in large spreadsheets.

Try this technique and see if it works for you:

1. Select a row (it can even be in another worksheet) and format it with the color or pattern you want using Format>Shading.
2. Select the row below it and format that for your alternative shade or pattern. This is assuming that you want two colors to alternate but you don't need to stop at two.
3. When you are satisfied, copy both rows to the clipboard.
4. Go to wherever you want in the sheet, or even a different sheet and highlight as many rows as you need (it could be hundreds) and then do a simple paste. The two alternately formatted rows will propagate throughout the highlighted area.

All this takes longer to read that it takes to do. If you find you need spreadsheets formatted in this way often, you could even build a template with the alternative formatting built it.

If it is OK to shade the whole sheet in alternating colors, then Table > Properties is the easy way.

In addition, PlanMaker 2018 supports "tables" which provide a super-simple way for alternatingly shading selected areas of your worksheet.
